Economic crash on the race track
With layoffs and unemployment at a high even some of the industries you wouldn't think of are suffering.
Many teams in NASCAR are even having to cut costs and run lean to prepare for the 2009 season. Some of the
teams started cuts as early as July. Here are some of the layoffs in NASCAR
Petty Enterprises - 30 employees
Woods Brothers - 20 employees
BDR - no sponsorship for Sprint Cup and cut all but a few employees
DEI has let 100 go last week alone!
Genassi layed off 71 back in July
Teams that are not cutting to much are Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, Rousch Fenway Racing.
Im still very interested in seeing what this season will bring with automakers on the verge of going
bankrupt. Still early to tell but I will keep my eyes open and post what I find as always!
